FlexGen Power Systems, LLC. (“FlexGen”), a leading battery energy storage system and energy management software provider, today announced a realignment of its executive leadership, with Diane Giacomozzi named Chief Commercial Officer and Hugh Scott named Chief Operating Officer. The new structure reflects significant, growing industry changes in the design, sourcing, delivery, and operations of complex energy storage projects, and aligns FlexGen’s leadership and teams to meet evolving customer needs.
As the battery storage industry matures, the boundaries between commercial, technology, and operational decisions are changing. Global supply chain and OEM relationships are moving upstream into commercial conversations as customers navigate equipment availability, bankability, changing incentives, and market-specific requirements. At the same time, software is expanding from an in-the-moment battery control system into a technology layer spanning integration, project delivery, and long-term operations. As energy users such as data centers deploy increasingly complex power systems at unprecedented scale, controls extend beyond the battery itself to orchestrate multiple onsite energy assets.
“What our customers need from us has evolved,” said Kelcy Pegler, CEO of FlexGen. “The supply chain is now part of the commercial strategy. Software is increasingly fundamental to how projects are delivered and operated, and the energy systems our customers are building are dramatically more complex. We’ve evolved our organization to lead through that complexity, helping our customers move faster, operate better, and build a more reliable grid.”
To date, FlexGen has contracted or completed more than 25 GWh across 200+ projects in 10 countries with over 80+ OEM configurations.
As Chief Commercial Officer, Giacomozzi will lead FlexGen’s global commercial organization alongside its strategic battery and power conversion system, OEM partnerships, and global supply chain organization. The alignment reflects how equipment strategy has become increasingly central to the commercial process, bringing together the teams helping customers move from concept and design through contracting, factory acceptance testing, logistics, and supply.
“Our value isn’t simply knowing which equipment to select; it’s the ecosystem and operating experience we’ve built around that equipment over more than a decade,” Giacomozzi said. “Our relationships with leading battery and PCS manufacturers extend across their operations, engineering, sales, and executive teams, creating a continuous feedback loop from the factory through deployment and years of operation. Bringing those partnerships together with our commercial organization allows us to create more value for our customers, move faster into new markets, and scale globally with partners we know and trust. Ultimately, that means helping customers make better decisions earlier, execute with greater confidence, and realize the performance and value they were promised from their investments.”
As Chief Operating Officer, Scott will lead FlexGen’s operations, bringing its software, project delivery, and Lifecycle Services organizations together around a unified approach to execution.
“Software is how we deliver and operate energy infrastructure, but great execution is the combination of technology and human expertise,” Scott said. “One of FlexGen’s greatest advantages has always been the feedback loop between our software, project delivery, Remote Operations Center, and field teams. What we learn on one project turns into better software and better operations on the next. This aligned structure allows us to build on and scale that advantage as the systems we deliver become larger and more complex.”
The energy infrastructure being built today is larger, more sophisticated, and moving faster than ever before. FlexGen’s new leadership structure is designed for that reality, bringing global supply relationships and expertise earlier in the commercial process to accelerate time to power, while bringing software, project delivery, and Lifecycle Services together under a unified operations organization to maximize performance throughout the life of the asset.
