LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, October 20, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ —
The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (Director Haedon Lee), in partnership with the Korea Craft and Design Foundation (President Kyung-bae Kim), and Los Angeles-based hanbok boutique Meehee Hanbok(CEO Eunjoo Kim), will present the 2026 Hanbok Fashion Show on Sunday, October 25 at 4:00 PM at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in celebration of Hanbok Day.
Held in recognition of Hanbok Day on October 21, the event aims to introduce Los Angeles audiences to the distinctive beauty and cultural significance of hanbok while showcasing its evolving appeal through contemporary design and modern interpretations.
At the heart of the event is a runway presentation featuring six hanbok brands*. From stately royal court attire and traditional hanbok to contemporary designs reimagined for modern lifestyles, the runway will highlight the remarkable range and versatility of Korea’s traditional clothing. Under the stage lights, audiences will experience the graceful silhouettes, vibrant colors, intricate embroidery, and refined craftsmanship that define Hanbok’s beauty.
*Participating brands: Liv Damyeon, MEEHEE HANBOK, HAPPLY, HAEMI, HYEON, OMYO
The fashion show will be complemented by special performances that bring together Korea’s traditional and contemporary performing arts. The program will open with Chunaengjeon, a graceful and refined royal court dance from the Joseon Dynasty, followed by Jinsoechum, a dynamic traditional dance featuring powerful rhythms and movements accompanied by the kkwaenggwari, a small Korean gong. The runway presentation will then lead into a special K-Pop performance by KND, the U.S. champion of the 2025 K-Pop Cover Dance Festival, whose members will take the stage dressed in hanbok before joining the show’s grand finale.
More than a traditional costume exhibition, the 2026 Hanbok Fashion Show presents hanbok as a living art form through the convergence of fashion, music, and performance. From royal court dance and traditional attire to contemporary hanbok and K-Pop, audiences will be invited on a journey across centuries of Korean culture. The event will showcase the distinctive lines and colors of traditional hanbok while demonstrating how the garment continues to evolve through designs that embrace both modern style and practicality.
Director Lee said “Hanbok is not only a traditional form of dress that embodies Korea’s unique cultural identity and aesthetic, but also a treasured cultural heritage that continues to draw global attention as it is reinterpreted through contemporary design,” “We hope this fashion show will provide local audiences with an opportunity to experience the beauty and cultural value of hanbok up close and discover its evolving appeal as tradition and modernity come together.”/End/
